As much as I enjoy wishing everyone a new year, new joy, new peace, new love and new blessings the facts have to be set straight, a lot of people somehow believe that prophesying positively into their lives is often enough to actually make it so. The fact that you make new year resolutions doesn’t mean they will automatically become real, unless you work towards it. It is impossible for your problems from 2012 to develop legs or wings to either run or fly out of your life just because it’s a new year.
Each person is in charge of how their day, weeks, months and year turns out. It is good to pray, hope and have faith but without hard work, I’m sorry to say that it will all be in vain. 2013 as a year has no feelings or choices, it can only go according to what the individual feels or chooses it should. Every time I hear someone say they expect it to be good especially as it is still so early in the year, I can not help but wonder at their optimism in spite of their laziness to change failed practices.
You can’t save moldy bread and expect to see a fresh new loaf just because it is a new year, you can’t keep up the same practices or habits and expect different results. If you make a resolution, it should be a S.M.A.R.T one- (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time bound) A new year doesn’t mean everything will go smoothly or differently, it’s just an opportunity and a fresh start given to us so that we can work towards shaping the year the way we envision it.
Where ever you see your self headed, is where your legs/car will lead you, whatever road you choose to take you will always meet the end of it whether you make detours, each choice you make is yours and the consequences are yours to face.
With that being said, I hope you all make resolutions you can keep. I wish you all the best this year, I wish you everything you wish yourself and sincerely hope you attract all the happiness you deserve.
